Pipes and Ducts

Large gaps around pipes can be sealed with polyethylene film over acoustic sealant.



Another solution for large pipe gaps is foam backer rod or weather stripping.



Smaller gaps around pipes can be filled with easy-to-use acrylic caulk.



Duct joints and fittings should be sealed with duct tape.



Chimneys get hot. Use sheet metal and muffler cement.


In attic, seal around vent pipe with polyethylene, duct tape, and caulk, as shown.
