Plugging Hidden Air Leaks in Your Home

Leaks in Walls

Seal the wood sill/masonry foundation joint with long-lasting polysulfide caulk.


Staple polyethylene sheeting over nonhardening sealant to seal floor/wall joint.

If there is a baseboard, seal with acrylic caulk; smooth caulk with a wet finger.

Seal service-entrance cable penetrations with nonhardening Duct Seal.



If an interior wall opens to the attic, caulk plywood pieces over the openings.



Seal the joint between drywall and wall top plate with silicone sealant.



Seal joint between drywall and attic top plate with silicone or acrylic sealant.
