Using Specialized Construction Tools

Power Saws
For long, straight cuts, it's hard to beat a tablesaw. Use it for dado cuts as well. It also works for crosscutting narrow boards and miter cutting, although not as efficiently as a power miter saw. A tablesaw can be especially useful for mass producing balusters or stair treads.

This tool, also called a chopsaw or cutoff saw, makes quick, precise crosscuts and miter cuts. It excels at repetitive tasks, such as cutting dozens of equally long balusters. A model with a 10-inch blade will suffice for deck-building projects.
