Sealing Leaky Base Plates

About this Project

If you find water in the cabinet below the sink, it could be from three places--the supply lines, the drain, or water leaking into the cabinet from under the faucet base plate. The problem may be solved by simply tightening the supply lines (see Stopping Leaks in Flexible Supply Lines, Related Projects). If the leak comes from the drain, see Dismantling Fixture Traps. If neither of those is the cause, you may have a leaky base plate that allows splashed water to seep through mounting holes. Follow the steps on this page to solve this last problem.
