Dismantling Fixture Traps

About this Project

When plunging doesn't clear a clog, or if you've dropped something valuable into a drain, your next step is to dismantle the trap. Before dismantling the trap, see if it has a nutlike clean-out fitting at its lowest point. If so, open it, and fit the auger into the hole. If there is no clean-out, don't be discouraged. Dismantling a trap is not all that difficult or time-consuming. Usually, the worst part of the job is getting a wrench into position if the trap is in an awkward place.
