Introduction

A flexible steel tape measure, a square, and a level usually will equip you to mark your lumber for cutting. But sometimes you'll come across a situation where you'll have to mark around the irregular contours of molding, brick, or stone; mark curved shapes; or mark for angles other than 45 degrees and 90 degrees. These aren't challenges to be left only to master carpenters. The simple techniques in this section are for marking unusual shapes.
