Caulking and Applying Mastic

Introduction

It takes practice before you can lay down a clean-looking bead of caulk. Practice on scrap materials or start in an inconspicuous area before you caulk an area that is highly visible.

Choose among a wide variety of adhesives that are designed for particular jobs (see Chart). When working with adhesives, be careful to apply the material smoothly and evenly, so the piece will adhere uniformly. Avoid applying too much adhesive; cleaning up messes can take longer than the actual job.
