About this Project

Dramatically change the appearance of a room by adding or replacing a ceiling light. Although the choices are many, from simple ceiling fixtures to elaborate chandeliers, all are installed in essentially the same way: Power is drawn from a ceiling-mounted box designed to support a particular fixture. If you are replacing a ceiling fixture, take the time to inspect the wires and the area around the outlet box for heat damage (see Checking Incandescent Fixtures, Related Projects).
