Installing Prehung Doors

About this Project

A prehung door costs a little more than buying a door, jamb, and the trim separately. But it will save you loads of time and probably will result in a better installation. With a prehung door, you'll avoid having to cut the jamb, three stop pieces, and six casing pieces; mortise and install hinges; and drill and mortise for the handle and the strike plate.

Before you order a prehung unit, measure not only the width and height of your opening, but also the thickness of the wall.
