Get the Stucco Look

Blend a stucco design into your deck with these mixed-materials planters.

Stucco is durable and weather-
resistant -- perfect for outdoors.

Start your stucco-and-brick planters by securing the planters. For the planters shown, concrete footings with rebar were poured before the deck was framed. Later, cinder blocks were mortared into place, then mortared together.

For added durability, fill the interiors
of the cinder blocks with gravel.

Next, install brick caps, then two layers of stucco (one smooth, one rough). These can be applied directly to the cinder blocks after everything has cured.

To visually tie the planters to the house, the last coat of stucco can be tinted before it's applied.
