Two DIY Bath Projects: Tile & Glass Block
A local home center stocked many of the materials needed to remake this bathroom.
Think Outside the Box
Thinking outside the box might be a popular mantra, but when it comes time to redo a bathroom, you'll probably find everything you need at the home center -- those "big box" stores with a huge selection of products.
A new pedestal sink and toilet in crisp white replaced the dated baby-blue versions and an old, boxy vanity. Also added were a recessed, mirrored medicine cabinet that fits snugly between two wall studs, and beaded paneling, painted pale taupe. The walls above the wainscoting are painted light blue with a washed effect.
What made all the difference, however, were the newly tiled tub and floor, and the glass-block window.

Personally, I think travertine give bathrooms a look. I just wrote a short blog article about travertine if you're interested. Its an inexpensive alternative to granite and marble and looks just as beautiful. After a few months, tile can start looking very dingy!
