Two DIY Bath Projects: Tile & Glass Block

A local home center stocked many of the materials needed to remake this bathroom.

update the 5 x 7-foot bathroom.

Think Outside the Box

Thinking outside the box might be a popular mantra, but when it comes time to redo a bathroom, you'll probably find everything you need at the home center -- those "big box" stores with a huge selection of products.

A new pedestal sink and toilet in crisp white replaced the dated baby-blue versions and an old, boxy vanity. Also added were a recessed, mirrored medicine cabinet that fits snugly between two wall studs, and beaded paneling, painted pale taupe. The walls above the wainscoting are painted light blue with a washed effect.

What made all the difference, however, were the newly tiled tub and floor, and the glass-block window.
