Ties for Dad
- Plain necktie
- Fabric paint, fabric markers, or fabric pastels
- Pencil
- Drawing paper
1. Purchase a plain necktie (cotton works better than silk). Trace around the front of the tie onto a sheet of drawing paper. Cut out the shape. Have the child sketch ideas on the paper, making sure the design fills out the shape; often children need to enlarge or expand their drawings to make them easier to paint.
2. Help the child re-create the drawing on the tie with pencil. Color with fabric paint, fabric markers, or fabric pastels. Bright colors work best on dark colored ties.
