Four Tips for Thawing a Frozen Turkey
- Always thaw in the refrigerator -- never at room temperature.
- How long something takes to thaw depends on its size and density. A 20-pound turkey may take three days.
- If you wake up on the morning of your big meal and the turkey is still slightly frozen, put it in a leak-proof plastic bag in the sink and immerse it in cold water. Change the water every half hour, turning the bag occasionally.
- Cook the turkey immediately after thawing.
