A Salute to Patriotic Postcards

For generations, paper greetings and ephemera have been an artistic expression of the emotions and moods of the time.

The flag, forever an image that evokes patriotism and national spirit, has been depicted in postcards that were sent to loved ones or collected as souvenirs.

Before 1920, most postcards were printed in Germany. Postcards printed during that era have excellent color representation. Rare flag postcards such as these can be found in antiques stores ranging from eight to forty dollars each. If using vintage postcards for a craft, use photocopies to preserve the valuable original.
