Ice cream ideas, tips, and hints.
Strawberry Ice-Cream Tart

Strawberries, yum! Ice cream, yum! Cookies, yum! Kids love 'em. So, why not have your kids and their friends put the whole shebang together to make this dynamite Strawberry Ice-Cream Tart? Impressive enough to serve on the Fourth of July, it also gives the kids a chance to slice, mush, push, sprinkle, scoop, and toss as they make a sensational treat they can call their own.

For kid-friendly prep, start with refrigerated sugar cookie dough. The dough gets pressed onto a cookie sheet -- great fun for both older and younger kids, especially those at the play-with-clay age. Then, after it's baked and cooled, the easy-does-it crust gets topped with scoops of ice cream and fresh strawberries. One more thing -- serve it fast. The troops are waiting.

Strawberry Ice-Cream Tart Refrigereated cookie dough makes the crust quick and easy.

Awesome Options:

  • Make a Banana Split Ice-Cream Tart: Use vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice creams. Substitute sliced banana for half of the strawberries. Top each seving with some bananas and strawberries, your favorite fudge sauce, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries.
  • Go solo: Bake the refrigerated cookies as directed on the package, topping each one with some sliced almonds before baking. To serve, top each cookie with a scoop of strawberry or vanilla ice cream, the strawberries, and a spoon or two of whipped cream.
