Etched Hanukkah Glass

Dress up a Hanukkah table setting with this subtle Star of David goblet.

Turn ordinary blue goblets into a memorable part of your Hanukkah festivities. A simple etching process adds a Star of David motif to the glasses. Combine with other themed tableware to create a setting that will add meaning to your holiday entertaining.

Tools and Materials

  • Pattern (see download link below)
  • Cobalt blue goblets
  • Armour Etch Permanent Glass Etching Cream
  • Transparent adhesive shelf paper
  • Crafts knife

Instructions

Download and print the pattern.

Follow the etching cream manufacturer's directions to clean the glassware. Set aside the glass to avoid getting fingerprints on the surface.

Transfer the symbol pattern to adhesive shelf paper and cut it out using a crafts knife, leaving approximately 1 to 2 inches of paper extending beyond the edge of the pattern.

Place the adhesive paper on the outer surface of the glass, pressing evenly and firmly to remove air bubbles. Apply a thick layer of etching cream on the exposed area. Wait for 60 seconds; rinse off the cream with water. Allow a few minutes for the etching to appear. Remove the adhesive paper pattern. Let the glassware dry.
