Easy Halloween Window Webs

Lengths of black ribbon and yarn and a little strategic weaving (if a spider can do it, surely you can, too!) are all it takes to add shadowy webs to your front windows. Dangle a couple crawling critters from the roofline to complete the creepy picture.

What You Need
  • Tape measure
  • Cardboard large enough to fit dimensions of web
  • Black blanket binding (2 packages)
  • Straight pins
  • Crafts glue
  • 5 yards of 1-inch-wide satin ribbon
  • Nubby black yarn
  • Small tacks or nails

How to Make It
  1. For a rigid surface to lay out the web, cut out a rectangle of cardboard 4 inches larger all around than the window measurement.
  2. Cut a piece of blanket binding for each side of the window.
  3. Arrange the blanket binding pieces on the cardboard, using straight pins to hold the binding in place on the cardboard frame.
  4. Glue the binding edges together at the corners.
  5. For the spokes of the web, cut lengths of ribbon to crisscross across the frame. Insert ribbon ends into the binding openings, apply glue, and pin in place until dry.
  6. To create the web design, weave yarn between the ribbon spokes, gluing and pinning it to the ribbons at intersections. Let dry.
  7. Tack into place around the window.
