How to Make It

For the Tubes
  1. Remove the plastic end caps from the mailing tubes and set them aside.
  2. Cut the tubes into 12-inch lengths with a saw or a serrated knife.
  3. Wrap each tube with paper in the color of your choice, and adhere it to the tube with tape.
  4. Cut lengths of electrical tape, wrapping around each tube to create stripes. For wider stripes, adhere two pieces of tape side by side.

For the Cat
  1. Cut two 4-inch-long pieces of chenille stem.
  2. Bend each into a V-shape to form the frame for the cat's ears.
  3. Apply crafts glue to the stems, and press onto a piece of black paper.
  4. Trim the paper along the edge of the chenille stem and across the bottom in a slight curve.
  5. Hot-glue the ears to the cat's head.
  6. Use the patterns for the cat's facial features (download them by clicking on the links above). Cut the shapes from the white paper.
  7. Add pupils with the black felt-tip marker. Use crafts glue to adhere the shapes in place on the head.
  8. Cut short lengths of black twine for whiskers. Apply hot glue to one end of each whisker, and attach them to the cat's face. Let dry.

For the Witch
  1. Cut lengths of the fringe to create hair, and attach it with hot glue to the head.
  2. Form a green clay cone-shape nose and a black wart. Let dry 24 hours.
  3. Hot-glue the wart to the nose and the nose to the witch's face.
  4. Use the patterns (download them by clicking on the links above) for the witch's facial features. Cut the shapes from black paper. Glue to the face with crafts glue.
  5. For the witch's hat brim, use a small saucer for a template and trace a circle onto black paper. Cut a small X in the center of the circle to accommodate the curve of the witch's head.
  6. Create a cone for the hat crown using another piece of black paper, and use double-stick tape to close the back seam. Trim the cone straight across the bottom.
  7. Use crafts glue to attach the hat crown to the hat brim and a pom-pom to the tip of the hat.
  8. Wrap yarn around the base of the hat crown, and glue it in place with crafts glue.
  9. Hot-glue the hat to the witch's hair.

For the Pumpkin
  1. Use the patterns (download the PDF pattern by clicking on the link above) for the facial features.
  2. Cut the shapes from black paper, and hot-glue to the pumpkin.
  3. Create a cone-shape pumpkin stem out of the black paper, and hot-glue it to the pumpkin. Let dry.
  4. Wrap the chenille stem around the pumpkin stem, and curl the ends.

Candy Container Assembly
  1. Hot-glue the head to a tube end.
  2. Pour candy into the open end of the tube.
  3. Close with the plastic end cap.
