1. Cover the work surface with newspapers in a well-ventilated work area. Spray two light coats of white spray primer onto the outside of a clean, dry pot. Let dry. 2. Sponge a generous amount of white acrylic paint onto surface. Sponge a small amount of pale green and gold onto white. Let dry. Hot-glue braid around rim. Tie a ribbon bow below braid. 3. On the photo, draw a circle around the face using a pencil. If you wish to preserve the photo, make a photocopy and draw the circle on the copy. Using a glue stick, attach the photo to card stock. Cut out circle shape with scissors. Cut a second circle out of card stock for the back side. Hot-glue fringe to the back of photo. Hot-glue a gold pipe-cleaner stem onto the back side of photo. 4. Hot-glue the braid to the back of the photo circle on both sides, clipping braid as necessary to help curve around circle. 5. Fill pot with soil. Position bulbs according to instructions for depth. Cover top of soil with green moss. Insert picture flower and several curved stems of pipe cleaners.
- For a teacher who is really sweet, fill the flowerpot with wrapped candies instead of potting soil.
- Decorate the pot with the child's handprints by placing hand in acrylic paint, then pressing on the surface of the pot.
