This tree and its papier-mache pot
probably date back to the 1930s.

• Mitten-shaped cookie cutters
• Scraps of plaid fabric
• String

1. Fold a fabric scrap with its right sides facing; place cookie cutter on top, and draw off cookie cutter shape.

2. Sew on the drawn line, leaving the cuff of the mitten open. Cut out the shape, leaving a narrow seam allowance beyond the drawn line.

3. Clip the curves and turn the mitten right side out. Press under a hem at the cuff; stitch the hem in place. Join pairs of mittens with string for hangers.
