Snowy Village Ornaments

Replicate your home or create an entire village with these ornamental abodes that are decked out for the holidays.

Use the patterns to create the steeply pitched cottage, quaint Colonial, or mid-century modern house -- or for inspiring other designs. A clothespin or candle clip attached to the base makes the ornaments a snap to hang on a tree.

Using one of the patterns, cut the house, roof, and base from card stock. Our ornaments are about 3 inches tall, but you can enlarge the pattern to the size you'd like. If you use white card stock, you can "paint" the house by gluing colored paper on top of the card stock.

Fold the house and roof pieces as indicated on the pattern. For the Colonial-style house, cut a square in the roof and cut an extra piece of card stock for the chimney. Glue the pieces together. Cut windows and doors from colored card stock or paper. Glue to the house.

Decorate as desired. Some ideas: Create a wintry scene by sprinkling glitter in craft glue spread on the roof and base. Form icicles by letting hot glue harden on waxed paper, then glue to the eaves. Create a snowdrift by sprinkling glitter in mounds of hot glue. Make wreaths from small chenille stems and twigs. For snow-capped trees, sprinkle glitter on the tips of miniature or bottlebrush trees.

Hot-glue a clothespin or candle clip to the bottom of the ornament to attach to a tree branch.

Cottage House Ornament

Cozy and quaint, this ornament would look right at home in a Norman Rockwell painting.

Cape Cod House Ornament

Covered in a dusting of "snow," this ornament is a miniature replica of the perfect place to be when the weather outside turns frightful.

The holiday season brings cheer and good will to all, whatever your style may be.
