Here's a lovely way to display vintage ornaments by setting them on a tiered serving piece. This one was created using three sizes of silver trays held together by two glasses and wads of floral clay or museum wax (also known as earthquake wax).

When entertaining, it is important for the guest to be able to see across the table to converse with the other diners. Good entertaining is not solely about impressing your guests -- the most important point if your guests' comfort level.
