Scallop-Trimmed Candles

Round candles get a simple embellishment from dried leaves and flower heads. Simply rim the candle with beads and hot-glue the leaves to the sides.

What You Need
  • Strand of polished green stones
  • 3 round green candles
  • Straight pins
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Red eucalyptus petals
  • Green eucalyptus petals
  • Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
  • Small dried red flowers

How to Make It
  1. Cut the strand of stones and secure one end of the strand with tape. (You may need to remove some stones to reveal enough string to secure.) Create three smaller strands of green stones to top each candle. The strand of stones should rest approximately 1/2 inch down from the top edge of the candle away from the flame. Remove stones as needed to expose some string at each end of the strand. Knot each strand tightly and cut off excess string. Lay each strand of stones on a candle top.
  2. Snip several straight pins by approximately 1/4 inch. Layer a red and green eucalyptus petal. Using a straight pin, pierce the top of each petal and push into a candle just below the strand of stones (touching the stones).
  3. Apply hot glue to the top edges of the petals, immersing the bottom of the stones as well. Press one dried flower into the hot glue. (This will help secure the strand of stones and hide the hot glue.) Repeat this procedure all the way around each candle.
