Make a Quilled Snowflake

Plain paper is all you need to create special, sparkling snowflakes.

What You Need:
  • White typing paper
  • Crafts glue
  • Tweezers
  • Sheer white ribbon

How To Make It:
  1. Cut 25 1/4 X 8 1/2-inch strips from white typing paper. Fold one strip in half to measure 4 1/4 inches.
  2. Open the strip up and bring each end in to the center fold to make a strip that measures 1/4 X 1/8 inches.
  3. Glue the layers of the strip together for 1 1/4 inches, beginning at the center fold.
  4. Curl the unglued ends of the paper strip in opposite directions, creating a scroll shape. Repeat with five additional strips to make six pieces.
  5. Stack two strips of paper together, hold the center with tweezers, and overlap the ends slightly. Put a dot of glue on one side of the end, and pinch to form an oval; let glue set. Make six ovals.
  6. Using the same method, make six smaller ovals for the snowflake tips, using one strip for each oval.
  7. For the center, roll a strip into a tight circle, holding the center with tweezers. Use a dot of glue to secure the end; let glue set.
  8. Arrange the snowflake pieces and large ovals around the center circle, alternating the shapes.
  9. Glue the shapes to the center circle and to each other; let glue set. Glue a small oval between the scrolls at the end of the arm.
  10. Let the ornament dry overnight. Thread ribbon to create the hanging loop.
