Makeovers for Women with Cancer

Information about a free program to help teens and women with cancer feel better about themselves.

Radiation and chemotherapy help fight cancer, but they can do a number on a woman's self-esteem. Hair loss, changes in the color and texture of skin, and weight fluctuations are common physical side effects.

Look Good...Feel Better is a free program open to any woman diagnosed with cancer. Sponsored by the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association, and offered through a partnership with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association, the two-hour classes cover makeup techniques, how to style and wear wigs, and nail care. Participants receive a free bag of cosmetics. Information tailored to teens is also available, as is material in Spanish.

For information, call 800-395-5665, visit the Web site, or contact your local American Cancer Society.
