1. Download the free patterns. (This requires Adobe Acrobat software.) For general how-to information, check out Decorative Painting Basics.
2. Sand all surfaces of the tray with 100- and then 150-grit sandpaper. Remove the sanding dust with the tack cloth. With the 3/4-inch flat brush, apply a coat of primer. Sand again with 150-grit sandpaper, and remove the sanding dust with the tack cloth.
3. Use the 3/4-inch flat brush to base-coat all surfaces of the tray True Turquoise.
4. Trace and transfer the flower patterns. Trace the flower patterns from the pattern packet onto tracing paper. Transfer the flower designs using transfer paper and a stylus. Load the #6 flat brush with Medium Fuchsia, True Violet, or True Yellow and paint the flowers. Paint the smaller green half circle Medium Lime. Repeat, using a flower color for each stem. Let the paint dry.
5. Paint stems and leaves. Load the #6 round brush with Medium Lime. Paint stems evenly spaced on the sides of the tray at differing heights and angles. Paint stems in a scattered pattern on the inside of the tray. Use Medium Lime to paint a half circle at the top of each stem and to paint one or two leaves at the base of each stem. Add True Green accents to each half circle and each leaf.
6. Use the #10 liner and Black to paint outlines and details. Let the paint dry.
7. Varnish and adhere marbles. Apply two coats of varnish, letting the varnish dry after each coat. Randomly glue marbles to the top inside surface of the tray using 7800 adhesive. Place the acrylic plastic over the marbles.
