Rubber Band Treat Can

These colorful, last-minute goody containers are also a great recycling project.

What You Need:
Rubberband Treat Bag
For a larger version, use a coffee
can to hold treats for this year's
tricksters.

  • Metal can without lid
  • Black crafting foam
  • Pinking shears
  • Colored rubber bands
  • Chenille stems in black, orange, and silver
  • Crinkle Mylar

Instructions:

1. Using pinking shears, cut a strip of black foam 2 inches shorter than the can and long enough to go around the can.

2. Wrap the foam piece around the can, securing with rubber bands. You can make a pattern with the rubber band colors or place the bands randomly if desired.

3. Twist the ends of the chenille stems together. Braid the chenille stems. Twist the remaining ends together to secure. Bend the braided chenille stems into a handle shape. Tuck the ends under the top two rubber bands. Fold up the ends of the chenille stems to secure in place. Fill the can with crinkle Mylar and wrapped treats.
