Prairie Coneflower


Description

A favorite of prairie wildflower plantings, yellow coneflower lives only a few years but reseeds prolifically. It blooms in late summer with yellow flowers and interesting brown centers. It attracts birds and butterflies and is a nice flower to cut for casual bouquets. Grows 1 to 4 feet tall, depending on the species.

Soil and Light

Average to rich, very well-drained soil. Full sun.

Planting

Plant established plants in spring in all zones or also in fall in Zones 7 to 9.
