Wheat Window Box

A pretty way to welcome your feathered friends.

Birds will reap a harvest of seeds when you replace summer's window box blooms with a crop of wheat. Check craft supply stores for wheat and other materials for this project.

To "plant" wheat, partially fill a window box with sand. Gather wheat stalks into bundles, tying the stems together tightly.

Shove the sheaves into the sand, adding more sand around each clump to keep the wheat upright. Trim the window box with a milo-millet-wheat garland created by wiring the stems of the three grains together.
