Let the Sun Shine

For a summer-style window treatment you can keep up all year round, fashion curtain panels that leave the uppermost portion of your windows uncovered -- or barely covered, as we've done with gossamer fabric in this window dressing. The sheer panel tops merely skim these transom windows without blocking the light or view. You could also hang the rod high and drop the solid panels low on loosely looped cording. (If you don't have transoms, leave the top third or quarter of your window exposed. For mullioned windows, make the top of the curtain even with a horizontal mullion.)
