Simply Super Window Treatments
These quickest-of-the-quick window dressings require half a day or less to create.
Striped Swag
This easy valance is a no-sew special. Cut 54-inch-wide fabric to a length two-and-one-half times longer than the width of the window (including trim). To make a lighter-look swag, cut the fabric in half lengthwise; use the second piece on another window. Hem all four edges using iron-on fusible webbing.
Cut a piece of 1x2 pine to the width of the window, including trim. Center the fabric on the board, and staple the edge of the fabric to the back of the board. Pull the fabric taut from the center and staple it to the back of the board at 1-inch intervals. Attach the board to the wall with screws. Then tie a large knot at each end and allow the remaining fabric to drape down the sides of the window.
