No-Sew Window Treatments

Banded in Satin
Vine-patterned sheets and a narrow satin border make this curtain as appealing as a crisp cotton sundress. Using sheets gives you the advantage of a precut fabric with finished edges. The matching satin ribbon gives this casual fabric a hint of formality.
This project will cost $60-$100 (including the curtain rod), and should take an afternoon to complete. Beginner's skills are all you need.
- 2 vine-patterned twin sheets
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Twenty-four 1/2-inch metal grommets (available at fabric stores)
- Hammer
- Enough 1-inch-wide satin ribbon to band the edges of both sheets (about 22 yards)
- 1/2-inch (or less) diameter curtain rod and its mounting hardware
- Iron-on hem tape
- Iron
1. Install the rod. Do this according to manufacturer's instructions.
2. Trim sheets, if necessary, to floor length.
3. Space grommets 5 to 6 inches apart along the top of each panel. If your curtain rod is more than 1/2 inch in diameter, look for larger grommets at awning or sailing supply stores.
4. Attach ribbon border with iron-on hem tape, turning each corner for a mitered effect.
