Super-Simple Sunflower Centerpiece

A low, rimmed platter and a few fresh flowers are all you'll need to create this simple and elegant centerpiece. And, don't miss the how-to video of this project.

Crunched for time? This pretty centerpiece requires just two things to make a statement: a long platter or several smaller plates and large flowers.

The next time you're shopping for groceries, stop in the floral section and look for large flowers with flat backs. We used cheery sunflowers for this centerpiece but large Gerbera daisies, dahlias, or big football chrysanthemums will work just as well.

Set a low, rimmed platter or plates down the center of your dining room table. Fill the platter or plates with a little water -- just enough to keep the stems hydrated. Then, cut off the stem just below the flower head and set in the water. Don't crowd the blooms -- the beauty of this arrangement is its simple elegance.

For color that lasts all season, try using silk flowers. Follow the same technique but without the water. Then all that's left to do is enjoy the spectacular results!
