Pear and Wheat Centerpiece
Two rows of artificial pears glued and picked together form the simplest sort of centerpiece. Bundles of rye tucked into the spaces further the feeling of fall.
- 10 full-size artificial pears
- Awl or metal skewer
- Toothpicks
- Glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
- 4 small bunches of rye
- Floral wire
1. On a flat surface, position the pears in two equal rows of five pears, aligning the sides with each other and making sure they line up evenly. Measure up to the widest point of one pear and mark that point. Using an awl or skewer, make a very small hole to receive the toothpick. Repeat for all other pears.
2. Join two pears with a toothpick. Add a dot of hot glue to one pear, then slide the pears together. Repeat to form two rows of five pears. Repeat to join the rows.
3. Divide the rye into small bundles. Wire the stems with floral wire about an inch below the heads; trim away the excess stems. Slip a bundle into each open space between the rows of pears.
