1 Sink, 3 Ways
Worldly Riches
For the second powder room, Stotts explored the virtues of a monochromatic scheme, making it sing with rich texture and well-traveled accents.
The woven wall covering in warm chocolate brown with bronze threads was Stotts' inspiration for this sophisticated room with a touch of the exotic. "I loved the fact that it was varied in its texture and pattern. It came alive, but it wasn't so loud it took over the room," she says.
During a visit to a design showroom, Stotts stepped on the perfect accompaniment: the cork floor. "I was looking for a floor type that would maintain the rhythm of the walls but would not jump out at you," she says. She chose subtly textured silk fabric for the same reason, using it in a tailored Roman shade finished with weighty brown-and-bronze tassel trim.
The chocolate-hue walls and floor form an ideal backdrop for her furniture choices: a substantial mirror and an unexpected two-shelf bookcase, both in black with rubbed gold edges. "Furniture makes a powder room more of a room, not just a water closet," she says.
The black-and-brass faucet echoes the furniture hues, as does the chandelier. Red leather accessories add a punch of color and natural texture.
