Tips for Painting Horizontal Stripes

Painting horizontal stripes is an easy project that requires few tools or expertise. Do be sure to measure carefully so stripes have an even layout on the wall, and use a level to ensure each line is perfectly horizontal.

• Use a carpenter's level and mark the top and bottom lines with a colored pencil close in hue to your paint choice so any smearing will blend in.
• Tape off the stripes between the marks using blue painter's tape.
• For extra-crisp stripes, apply clear wall glaze along the edge of the painter's tape, straddling the wall and the tape with your paintbrush.
• Allow the glaze to dry before painting each stripe.
