Linen Texture Paint Technique
Linen-Look Wall Project
- Ralph Lauren semigloss or satin paint: Parchment (PA)
- Level
- Marking pencil
- Blue low-tack painter's tape
- Ralph Lauren premixed and tinted linen glaze: Dark Wheat (DW)
- Roller pan
- Trim brush
- Large paint roller with roller cover made for painting linen
- Ralph Lauren linen weaver brush
- Damp rag
1. Base-coat walls with PA; let dry.
2. Divide walls into panels 24 to 36 inches wide. (Panel width depends on the room size and placement of windows, doors, and other interruptions.) Using a level and marking pencil, extend marking lines from ceiling to floor.
3. With blue painter's tape, tape off every other section.
4. Pour DW into roller pan. Using trim brush and paint roller, trim, then roll glaze onto one section.
5. Drag linen weaver brush through entire section horizontally, followed immediately by Steps 6, 7, and 8 below.
6. Drag brush vertically through glaze, wiping bristles with a damp rag as necessary to remove excess glaze.
9. Tape off remaining panels and repeat the process.
