Linen-Look Walls How-To
Tips for Perfect Linen Walls
If you've never attempted a linen paint technique before, these tips will come in handy:
- For a consistent look, one partner should do all the dragging or weaving, while the other does all the rolling.
- The dragging process involves one continuous, fairly straight motion from the top of the wall to the floor. If you're concerned about having a steady hand, consider painting only a portion of a wall above or below a chair rail.
- For the most realistic look, choose light paint colors, such as natural linen or pastels typical of spring and summer linens.
- A linen-technique kit, many of which contain an instructional video, can ease you along. Look for one at home centers or paint stores. As with any paint technique, practice on a board first to make sure you are satisfied with the look.
