After much cajoling, my parents warmed to the idea of a living room with deep blue walls and a pale blue ceiling, a foyer painted two shades of a green, and a dining room that echoed the living room's bold colors -- but not, of course, before I promised to personally repaint the entire house if they weren't thrilled with the results.
