Make a Silver Demilune Table

An ordinary console table goes from plain to prominent.

What You Need

  • Unfinished wood demilune table
  • Brown kraft paper
  • Sandpaper
  • Wood primer
  • Aluminum leaf
  • Water-base polyurethane sealer
  • 1/4-inch mirror
  • 1/8-inch mirror
  • Three ready-made round beveled mirror coasters
  • Mirror mastic adhesive and caulking gun

How to Make It

  1. Use kraft paper to make a template pattern for the tabletop and each of the three skirt panels.
  2. Have the tabletop cut from 1/4-inch mirror and the skirt panels from 1/8-inch mirror.
  3. Sand all surfaces of the table, wipe away dust, and apply primer to all surfaces.
  4. Apply aluminum leaf to the legs and edges of the tabletop and skirt panels, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Seal with polyurethane.
  6. When the sealer is completely dry, glue the mirrors in place.
  7. Center and glue a coaster on each skirt panel.
