Mantel Magic

Don't be afraid to try a variety of approaches to creating a mantel focal point. Our designs use three types of balance. Using your favorite objects for display, re-create the design that appeals to you most -- or experiment with all three.

 

In this lively grouping, an imaginary line drawn down the mantel's middle reveals a different number of objects in varying sizes on each side. The greater visual weight of the framed mirror is offset by the mass of white flowers on the left side.

 

For a no-fail display, center artwork or a mirror above the mantel, then flank it with identical objects like our three small vases and pair of white buffet lamps. Allow the foreground objects (the vases and small candles) to overlap the mirror for a more unified grouping.

 

In this engaging approach to balance, wall-mounted objects encircle and enhance the stationary objects on the mantelshelf. Note how the plates are carefully balanced in size and are symmetrically aligned within a pair of wall sconces.
