Shop at crafts and art supply stores as well as home centers and paint stores for the specialty items needed for these projects. To make your project go as smoothly as possible, stock the following items in addition to the specific items listed with each project:

• Fine- and medium-grit sandpaper
• Steel wool in various densities
• Tack cloths and clean, lint-free cotton rags
• Blue painter's tape and low-tack adhesive tape
• No. 2 lead pencil
• Scissors
• Carbon, kraft, and tracing paper
• Level-ruler combination
• Straightedge and tape measure
• Stencil plastic and stencil brush
• Crafts knife and extra blades
• Cutting board or self-healing cutting mat
• Disposable foam plates and cups
• Repositionable spray adhesive
