Bow-Making Basics
Dress up gifts, crafts, floral arrangements and weddings with one of these elegant bows.
Perfect Bow
Keep things simple and bedazzle at the same time with these basic bows. With a little patience and practice, you can learn to make them perfectly.
1. Loop a length of ribbon and hold the loop between your thumb and index finger, with the ribbon tail at the back several inches longer than the front tail. With your opposite hand, pick up the long tail and wrap it around the loop to begin the knot.
2. Use the index finger of the same hand to push a loop through the knot in front of the thumb holding the first loop.
3. Extending your thumbs through both of the loops, gently pull the back of the loops with your thumbs and index fingers to tighten the knot. Trim the ribbon ends.
Tip: Use a wired ribbon, as the wire edge helps give body and shape to the ribbon, which makes bow making much easier.
