7 Simple Slipcovers
Flirty Skirt
Once you make the pattern, you can sew a cover for every season or occasion.
Find project tips and a materials list below.
- Approximately 2/3-yard lightweight fabric
- Water-erasable fabric marker
- Fusing tape or sewing thread
- Ribbon, twine, or string for corner ties
1. Drape the fabric over the chair seat, letting it fall past the apron (the front and side pieces under the seat and above the legs). Draw the desired hemline and mark any areas that will need to be notched out to accommodate the chair back and legs.
2. Remove the chair and even out the lines. Cut the skirt 1 inch longer all around than the marked lines. Hem all the edges with topstitching or fusing tape.
3. Place the cover back on the chair. Tack ribbon, twine, or string to the four corners and tie them in bows to draw in the excess fabric. Use the back ties to anchor the cover to the chair.
