Soft cornices give plain windows a finished look and are ideal when the view outside is too pretty to be blocked. The shape you select is limited only by your imagination and what you can easily cut from a 1-yard piece of fabric and heavy interfacing. We opted for this fitted design with a scalloped hem to break up the window's square shape. Banded with a 3-inch-wide border of solid green, the floral treatment is stapled to a U-shape wood frame and mounted with L brackets several inches above the window frame to break into the top panes of glass.
