Dressing Up Ready-Made Drapes
Stamps of Approval
Perfectly fine fabric becomes perfectly fantastic when stamped with a subtle floral design.
See instructions and tips below.
- Lightly tinted sheer swag and side panels
- Stamp and ink pad designed for use on fabric
- Kraft paper
- Low-tack painter's tape
- Press cloth
1. Prewash and dry the swag and curtains to remove any sizing or finishes. Do not use fabric softener or detergent with stain repellent or fabric softener. Lightly press the fabric if needed.
2. Smoothly tape one section of a side panel to a paper-covered work surface, taking care not to distort the fabric. Using even pressure, randomly stamp the fabric without rocking the stamp. As each section is stamped, change paper and move to another section. Repeat for the other panel.
3. To create the striped border on the swag, mask off the outer 1 inch of the lower edge. Place the swag over kraft paper and press the stamp directly onto the fabric. Move along the edge, letting the color look mottled and uneven.
4. When the ink dries, cover the fabric with a press cloth and heat-set the designs according to the stamp pad manufacturer's directions.
