Comfy Cushion
Patchwork pillows, like this seat cushion, are perfect projects for using up fabric scraps. If you don't have a long enough strip to make the boxing strip, stitch together shorter pieces to get the full length.
- Enough scrap fabric to make six 6 x 8-inch pieces of matching fabric
- A piece of scrap fabric large enough to make a 36-1/2 x 3-inch piece for boxing strip
- Purchased piping
- Round pillow form in chair-seat size
- One 1-7/8-inch button
- Covered-button kit
- From six 6 x 8-inch pieces of complementary fabrics, cut eight wedge shapes. Sew wedges together to form a 12-inch-diameter circle. Sew purchased piping around top and bottom pieces. Sew boxing strip to piped cushion top; sew to bottom, leaving an opening for turning.
- Turn and insert pillow form. Sew opening closed. Tuft center of cushion. Using a covered-button kit, cover a 1-7/8-inch button with extra fabric. Sew to center of cushion top at tuft.
