Personalized Purses

In all things fashion, personalization is the key to creating a unique look that expresses a point of view. Here, we're suggesting that you take simple purchased purses -- from a store, thrift shop, or your own closet -- and let your imagination run wild.

Use up any odds and ends, such as trim or ribbon scraps, to add sophisticated designer details to a purchased evening bag (see picture). Use fabric glue to adhere the lip of a fancy trim to the outside purse opening, then cover the lip with ribbon and a small tailored bow.

Show off a favorite button or piece of jewelry on a purchased handbag that has been embellished with fabulous decorator trims. Simple additions can be attached with fabric glue, or create a medallion-style adornment by hand-sewing trims to a circle cut from felt, securing an accessory to the center, and attaching it to the front of the purse.
