A pretty vase is always a plus. Even better is when a chic vase is SO easy to DIY! Add extra charm to a glass vase with just a bit of rope to make something ordinary suddenly look standout.

Ready for a variation? Try wrapping the vase all the way around with rope, painting a stripe along the middle strand, or using a uniquely shaped vase. A nice ribbon coordinating with the color of your flowers can also add a stylish touch.

Finish by filling the vase with your favorite flowers, then sit back and admire your handiwork over a glass of wine. The more vases you DIY, the more ideas you'll want to try.

What You Need

  • Thin rope
  • Clear cylindrical vase
  • E6000 craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Step 1: Place the Rope

Use industrial adhesive on the starting point of your vase. Wrap the center of your vase for a stunning accent, or start from the bottom for an allover, enveloped look.

Step 2: Secure the Rope

Continue to wrap the rope around the vase, stopping wherever you decide looks best. Cut the rope to the desired length, and secure the end with industrial adhesive. Hold in place with tape until the glue is dry, then remove the tape.

Step 3: Add Extras

This step is optional: you'll already have a stunning vase just by adding rope! However, if you want to go a step further, try out paint, ribbons, or any other accents you desire. With a bright bow or a bold stripe, this rope design is even more impressive.
