5 sts = 4" in stockinette st. TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
Special Stitches
M1R: Lift bar between sts from back and place on needle. Knit new st through the front loop. This should twist the st and make it invisible.
M1L: Lift bar between stitches from front and place on needle. Knit new st through back loop to twist it.

Cast on 5 sts. Knit first row. Place marker on center st.
Row 1: K 2, knit until marked st, yo, k marked st, yo, k until end.
Row 2: K 2, purl until 2nd st from end, k 2.
Row 3: K 2, M1R, knit until 2nd st from end, M1L, k2.
Row 4: K 2, purl until 2nd st from end, k 2.

Knit until about 4 or 5 yards remain. Bind off. Weave in ends. Sew button to purl side, approximately 3" from top of widest part of triangle and 1" from edge.
